Brighton is a suburb of Detroit in southeastern Livingston County, Michigan. It is part of the southern Lyon-Howell-Brighton area. At the 2010 census, the city had 7,444 inhabitants.
It was incorporated as a village in 1867 and as a town in 1928. It is one of two cities in Livingston County that includes land that was previously part of Brighton, Green Oak and Genoa. Brighton is an area in southeastern Michigan that includes Ann Arbor, Lansing and Detroit. According to the United States Census Bureau, Brighton has an area of 95.6 km2, of which 92.2 km2 is land and 0.34 km2 is water.
