For Freelancers/Developers
You'll learn tricks about our preferred tech - Material UI, Gatsby.js, Contentful, and Netlify. A quick breakdown if you're unfamiliar:
- Material UI is a styling solution that is growing rapidly in popularity, right next to React JS as a whole. The base components that come out of the box and the theming solution make it our preferred choice.
- Gatsby.js is a Static Site Generator (SSG) with a React based framework. We prefer Gatsby due to the large ecosystem of plugins, as you might be familiar with if you've worked with Wordpress.
- Contentful is a headless content management system (CMS) which provides intuitive editors for writing and publishing blogs, along with being incredibly easy to set up for developers.
- Netlify is a hosting provider that provides an incredibly generous free tier with things like 100 free form submissions per month, cloud functions, deploy previews, etc. If you host client sites you'll have to upgrade to the paid tier, however, it's very reasonably priced. The Netlify tier best suited for freelance web developers costs $19/per month.
We plan to make posts on all of the above technologies, including why you should care as a business owner. For developers, we'll provide an in-depth discussion of why we decided to choose Gatsby.js over Next.js, for example.
